According to witness reports, the male student, known to classmates as Chama, approached the victim outside the church. The confrontation, which is believed to have originated from a personal dispute, escalated and led to the female student being stabbed three times in the abdominal area. The suspect retreated into a nearby tea plantation but was later found and apprehended by local residents. After a brief physical confrontation with the public, he was handed over to law enforcement.
