The administration of Ikwera Girls Secondary school in Kwania district demands that president Museveni fulfills a pledge he made to the school 16 years ago.
The promise was made in 2006, after the school truck Reg no. UG 0753G broke down beyond repair, as it was being used by the UPDF to transport soldiers to their training wing in Ibuje sub-county in Apac district.
With an intention to compensate the school for their loss, the President pledged to purchase a new school bus for the school.
According to the headteacher of Ikwera Girls SS, Odongo Aloysius, the school has not yet received the bus from the government 16 years after the pledge by the president.
He adds that the institution is currently grappling with logistical challenges, something he highlights as a major hindrance to the progress of the school.
The chairperson of PTA of Ikwera Girls, Betty Omara has called upon the district leadership to follow up on the matter. Geoffrey Alex Ogwal, the Kwania district LC V chairperson says that the district received a circular indicating that money to that effect would be wired to their account in June last year in vain.
Canon Richard Ogwang Odyero, the Kwania outgoing RDC said the matter has not yet reached his office.
However, he has pledged to follow up with the Office of the President.
